Comunicar a stakeholders y ejecutivos

Executive update
The answer (1 line)
We'll hit the December date, but only for the two main markets.
Si sólo leen una línea, esta es. Nada de «as you know» ni de contexto previo.
Why, in business terms (2-3 lines)
The payment provider needs 8 weeks for certification in each market, and we started two of them late.
What you need from them (1 line)
I need a decision by Friday: do we delay the other two markets, or cut the reporting feature to free up two people?
Detail, only if asked
The certification covers fraud rules, chargebacks and local reporting; each one has a fixed review window.
Preparado y no dicho.
|---|---|
| We refactored the sync service and improved the queries | Reports that took 40 seconds now take 3 — support stopped getting complaints about it |
| We have a lot of technical debt in billing | Every change to billing takes about three times longer than it should, and that is where most of our roadmap sits next quarter |
| The migration is 60% done | We're on track for the 15th. The remaining part is the risky one, so I'll know for sure on Monday |
| We had an incident yesterday | Checkout was down for 40 minutes yesterday, about 300 orders affected. It's fixed and the cause is understood |
| We need to upgrade Postgres | Our database version stops getting security patches in March. Upgrading takes about two weeks of one person |
Antes de seguir, predecí
Las preguntas que hacen
| Pregunta | Qué buscan | Cómo responder |
|---|---|---|
| Why is this taking so long? | Entender si hay un problema o es el tamaño normal | It's four weeks of work and two of them depend on the provider. I can show you where the time goes |
| Can we do it faster? | Saber qué palanca existe | Yes, if we drop X or add a person now — adding one later wouldn't help |
| What happens if we don't do it? | Comparar contra no hacer nada | Nothing breaks this quarter. By March we stop getting security patches |
| How confident are you? | Calibrar tu estimación | High on the first part, low on the provider's timeline — that's the part outside our control |
| Is this a one-off or will it happen again? | Saber si hay que invertir estructuralmente | It'll happen again unless we add the check in CI, which is about two days of work |
| What do you need from me? | La invitación a pedir | A decision on the scope by Friday, and an intro to the payments team |

Reescribilo
Hi! As you know, we have been working on the migration of the payments module. We started by analyzing the current architecture and we found several issues with the legacy code. Then we refactored the sync service and improved some queries. We also had to upgrade a library. The provider has a certification process that we did not know about and it takes 8 weeks per market, so we think that maybe December could be difficult for all four markets. We'll make the December date for our two main markets. The other two will land in February. The reason is outside our code: the payment provider certifies each market separately and each one takes 8 weeks. We found that out in week three. I need a decision from you by Friday: either we accept February for the smaller two, or we pull two people off the reporting work to run the certifications in parallel. My recommendation is to accept February — those two markets are 6% of volume. Happy to walk through the certification steps if useful.
December holds for the two main markets; the other two move to February (the provider certifies each market separately, 8 weeks each). Decision needed by Friday: accept February, or move two people off reporting to parallelize. I'd accept February — those markets are 6% of volume.
The short version is
My recommendation is
/maɪ ˌrekəmenˈdeɪʃn̩ ɪz/ · suena como mai rekomendéishon is
Here's what I need from you
/hɪəz wɒt aɪ niːd frəm juː/ · suena como jirs uót ai niid from iu
Error común: decir «nid» con i corta: es larga
It's about six percent of volume
/ɪts əˈbaʊt sɪks pəˈsent əv ˈvɒljuːm/ · suena como its abáut siks persént ov vóliom
Error común: decir «pércent», acentuando la primera sílaba
I want to flag a risk
