Org-wide announcement
What is changing
Starting in October, the billing and payments teams merge into one team of eleven, led by Priya.
Why
Every billing change needed work from both teams, which is why simple changes took weeks.
What this means for you
If you are on either team: same manager for now, same projects this quarter. If you work with them: same contacts until October 15.
What is not changing
No roles are being eliminated. On-call rotations stay as they are until January.
Timeline and what is still open
The merge is effective October 1. Team structure inside the new team will be decided in November, with input from both teams.
Where to ask
I will hold an open call on Thursday at 14:00 UTC, and questions in #billing are welcome any time.

|---|---|---|
| Q4: migrate to GraphQL, upgrade Postgres, improve CI | Lista de tareas sin criterio | Q4 is about making changes cheap to ship: the three items below all attack the same bottleneck |
| Our strategy is to be more scalable | No dice nada ni excluye nada | Our bet is that our growth is limited by how fast we ship, not by capacity. So we invest in delivery, not in infrastructure |
| We will do X, Y and Z | Sin prioridad, todo parece igual de importante | X is the one we protect. Y and Z happen if X stays on track |
| Everything is a priority this quarter | Nada es prioridad | If we only finish one thing this quarter, it should be X |
| We are not doing A, B, C | Lista de negativas sin criterio | We are not investing in A this quarter — not because it does not matter, but because it does not move the bottleneck |

Reescribilo
Team, as part of our continuous journey towards excellence and in order to better serve our customers in a rapidly changing environment, we are excited to announce some organizational changes that will allow us to be more agile and efficient going forward. More details will follow in the coming weeks. The billing and payments teams are merging into one team of eleven, led by Priya, starting October 1. Why: every billing change needed work from both teams, and that handoff is why simple changes took weeks. What this means for you: - On either team: same manager for now, same projects this quarter. - Working with them: same contacts until October 15, then a single channel. - Everyone else: nothing changes. What is not changing: no roles are being eliminated, and on-call rotations stay as they are until January. Still open: how the new team organizes internally. That gets decided in November, with input from both teams. Open call Thursday at 14:00 UTC, and questions in #billing any time.
Billing and payments merge into one team on October 1, led by Priya. The handoff between the two teams was making simple changes take weeks. No roles are being eliminated. Same manager and same projects this quarter for everyone on both teams; on-call stays as is until January. How the merged team organizes internally is still open — decided in November. Open call Thursday 14:00 UTC.
What this means for you
/wɒt ðɪs miːnz fə juː/ · suena como uót dis miins for iu
Error común: decir «mins» con i corta: es larga
Here's what is not changing
/hɪəz wɒt ɪz nɒt ˈtʃeɪndʒɪŋ/ · suena como jirs uót is not chéinching
Error común: decir «changuing» con g dura
This is still open
/ðɪs ɪz stɪl ˈəʊpən/ · suena como dis is stil óupen
Error común: decir «óupn» comiéndose la vocal
We are making a bet on
/wiː ə ˈmeɪkɪŋ ə bet ɒn/ · suena como ui ar méiking a bet on
I want to be transparent about
/aɪ wɒnt tə biː trænsˈpærənt əˈbaʊt/ · suena como ai uánt tu bi transpárent abáut
